Ian Armour-Chelu (1928 - 2000)

Painter who studied with Roland Vivian Pitchforth at Chelsea School of Art. He was the husband of the artist Angela Burfoot and father of the painter Louis Armour-Chelu. Began painting in 1968 and had the first of a series of solo shows in Britain and abroad in 1972. Showed with Agnew and took part in a family exhibition at Markeswood Gallery, Great Bardfield, in 1990. Lived at Wissett, near Halesworth, Suffolk.
