This beautiful pastel drawing was purchased from the artists family in 2005. Exhibited at the Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool, ROI, RI and Goupil Gallery. King George VI and Sir Winston Churchill were among Coopers portrait subjects. Lived in London and was a member of the Chelsea Arts Club.

ARTIST BIOGRAPHY

Alfred Egerton Cooper (1883 - 1974)

Portrait and landscape painter, born in Tettenhall, Staffordshire. Studied at Bilston School of Art and Royal College of Art graduating in 1911. Served in Artists Rifles in  World War I. He was elected RBA in 1914.  In 1921 Coopers picture 'London from an Airship' was a noteable feature of the RA Summer Exhibition and three years later he won an Honourable Mention at Paris Salon. Also showed Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool, ROI, RI and Goupil Gallery. King George VI and Sir Winston Churchill were among Coopers portrait subjects. Lived in London was a member of the Chelsea Arts Club.
