Duart Castle, Isle of Mull, Scotland

  • Duart Castle was the 14th century home of Clan Maclean. It sits on a peninsula that juts out where the Sound of Mull and the Firth of Lorne meet. The painting depicts the castle from the Firth of Lorne with the Dun da Ghaoithe (to the right) and the Sgurr Dearg (to the left) mountains as a back drop. This along with the stormy sky and sea make the castle stand out in the landscape.
