This print depicts Alnmouth Beach, looking north at sunset. Alnmouth beach is one of the most well-known beaches in Northumberland. It sits at the mouth of the River Aln. The village was once home to an important harbour, however, a storm in 1806 changed the course of the river, leaving the harbour stranded. The white sand and dunes of the vast beach are part of the Northumberland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. I painted this during my second year at university. It was the start of this style of painting, mixing realism and abstraction to create drama and intrigue within the landscape
