This picture was exhibited at the New English Art Club, Liverpool in 1936. Provenance: Ex collection of Mr. and Mrs. Pattinson, Calthwaite Hall, Penrith and sold with the original sales catalogue detailing provenance.He showed at RA, LG, NEAC, Redfern Gallery and extensively at RBA.  Galleries in Oldham, Worthing, Belfast and Glasgow hold his work. Lived in Burford, Oxfordshire.

Oil on canvas     24" x 30"    signed and dated 1934.

 

ARTIST BIOGRAPHY

Robert Kirkland Jamieson (1881 - 1950)

Painter and teacher, born at Lanark, Scotland. He studied at Glasgow Training College for teachers, then Paris. for most of the 1930s he was head of Westminster School of Art, taking over as principal of St. Martin's School of Art in 1945. He was married to the artist and potter Dorothea Selous. He showed at RA, LG, NEAC, Redfern Gallery and extensively at RBA.  Galleries in Oldham, Worthing, Belfast and Glasgow hold his work. Lived in Burford, Oxfordshire.
