Danmark,Leaving the Tyne

This is an exceptional oil painting by Holmes, showing a sailing ship leaving the Tyne with escorts. The Low Lights and High Lights are clearly visible as is the North Shields Fish Quay. A very powerful painting by a much respected Northumbrian artist.

The ship featured is the Danmark which was one of the vessels used in the popular BBC series The Onedin Line. The painting was bought from the artist, a family friend, by the current owners father and has never been offered for sale.
