Oil on canvas. Signed bottom right 'Shields  Braaq'. Inscribed verso in the artist's hand 'This painting is not for sale. It was given to Peter Owers 13th June 1986 and signed Braaq.

The painting is displayed in a beautiful top quality hand made bespoke frame'

Provenance: purchased many years ago from Morphet's of Harrogate who are recognised as prominent purveyor's of Braaq's work.

This is a very interesting and beautiful, peaceful painting by Braaq. Whilst it is a departure from his genre paintings, it is nevertheless a relatively inexpensive way into ownership of works by this highly regarded artist whose work regularly sells in the thousands of pounds. From a well known private collection in Northumberland.

ARTIST BIOGRAPHY

Brian Shields Braaq (1951 - 1997)

A Liverpool-born English painter. He is best known for painting industrial scenes of northern Britain. He acquired the nickname "Braaq" in his school days — on account of his artistic talent he was nicknamed "Braque" after the French artist Georges Braque.

He held his first exhibition in 1974. In 1977 he was invited to hold four exhibitions in London and at this time was described by The Times as "one of the six most successful artists in England."[1]

He tragically died of a brain haemorrhage at the early age of 46..
