ARTIST BIOGRAPHY

Ronald William Thornton (b.1936)

Born at South Shields Thornton is a self taught artist who went on to teach art. He has painted the Northumbrian landscape extensively and produced a series of work recording the Tyne from its source to the sea. His work is held in many private collections and institutions. There is a good write up in The Artists of Northumbria by Marshall Hall which also has an illustration of his work.
