His best paintings were of landscape scenes and this watercolour of Chepstow Castle has all of the qualities you would expect from this accomplished artist. The painting has a tranquil feel to it and the colouring is superb. There is a good entry on Lloyd in the book 'Victorian and Edwardian Artists' by Adrian Vincent along with an illustration of his work.
Full name Walter Stuart Lloyd. Perhaps best known for his
landscape watercolours. A popular artist during his lifetime. Exhibited widely
with 40 paintings shown at the RA, 168 at the RBA and 56 at the RI.
