Japanese dancing girl - vibrant, full of movement and typical of his style of painting. John has painted two contrasting images of the same subject and together, with Kiss of Flame on which he has highlighted her lips with the same vibrant colour used in this painting, they make a stunning pair.

John Nattrass was born in Gateshead in 1949 and, after serving his time on Tyneside, worked as an engineer for 13 years at sea for Shell Oil Company and BP which took him all over the world. He retired in 2006 as a Drilling Supervisor to start his own Drilling Consultancy business which he did until 2009 when he again retired from the business.
John has always had a love for sketching but only took up painting in 2003 and is entirely self taught. His main medium is Acrylic and he paints a variety of subjects including dogs and animals and gains inspiration from the many places and situations he experienced whilst travelling the world. He has produced a number of wonderful dog paintings on commission.
John has an excellent feel and understanding of the human form especially in movement. His paintings are bold and combined with his use of colour, are striking.
John also carves walking stick handles which are of an extremely high standard. He has carved a number on commission.
