This is a truly wonderful watercolour by Wasley of Marlow on the Thames. With All Saints Church shining through the mist in the background. Wasley lived at Henley-on-Thames close to Marlow and it is known he was a keen fisherman. Could this be the artist in the foreground? As 'fresh' as the day it was painted and a perfect example of his style and subject matter.
Watercolour 17" x 22" Signed. Inscribed verso with location. (frame included in price)

Full name: Stephen Frank Wasley was born in Peckham near London. His first known home was in Nottingham from then on he appears to have moved frequently until finally settling in Henley-on-Thames. Painted in oils and watercolours often in black and white. He later developed his paintings in a ‘free’ and confident style. His subjects were frequently Venice, ancient cities and seascapes. Great admirer of Turner. Exhibited at the Royal Academy, The Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours, The Royal Society Birmingham and others.
