‘Land of Hope & Glory’ is a painting to commemorate the Historic Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II (3rd June 2012 - the view is from Westminster Bridge looking towards Lambeth Bridge).
The inspiration for this painting not only came from a photographic source, but from the British Spirit - the thousands of people who made it such a spectacular event. Hundreds of rowers from all over the world took part in rowing nine miles along the river Thames. The flat grey reflection of the water from the cloud overhead provided a perfect background to the boats, decked out in heraldic flags with crews sporting colourful traditional costumes.
Acrylic on stretched canvas 70x100cm (27 1/2" x 39 /14") Signed (unframed)

We are delighted to welcome Leornard to The Wallington Gallery, a professional artist with a distinctive style and vision, we feel confident that his artwork will do well.
He is proving so popular that original works are already scarce.
His medium is in oil and acrylic. Born in Camberley, Surrey, settling in Fleet, Hampshire. Studied at Guildford School of Art. 1957 - 1962. Leonard was trained as a poster designer under his mentor Jerzy Brazinski (alias Karo). Leonard passed his National Diploma in Design with Distinction in 1962, and in 1975, he gained the affix of MSIAD.
In 1990 Leonard was awarded the highest professional qualification in graphic design - A Life Fellowship of the Chartered Society of Designers (FCSD).
Leonard paints in the mode of a free-thinking visionary, capturing the essence of his subject matter; whether that be his love of West Country fishing harbours, Venice or his most recent success in creating a style in New Modern Romance (a graphic mix of Pre-Raphaelite, geometric patterns and spontaneous abstract bold brushstrokes).
Leonard has received a high degree of approval from satisfied customers and many compliments from fellow artists, his ambition is to make his mark in the world of Fine Art.
