Walter Linsley Meegan (1859 -1944)
Liverpool Docks by Moonlight

Meegan was a pupil of Atkinson Grimshaw, his style and subjects reflect this. He produced very atmospheric moonlit scenes.This oil painting of Liverpool Docks is full of warmth and his use of light is exceptional. A fine example of his work.

ARTIST BIOGRAPHY

Walter Linsley Meegan (1859 -1944)

Meegan was born in Leeds and studied at Leeds School of Art. He travelled extensively including America before settling in England. He had 2 houses, one in Scarborough and the other in the Liverpool area. Was a pupil of John Atkinson Grimshaw and his work is heavily influenced by his style. Early works were signed using his wife's maiden name 'Linsley'. Painted in oil and particularly well known for his harbour and moonlit scenes.
