ARTIST BIOGRAPHY

Howard Barron (1900 - 1991)

Howard Barron was a painter and draughtsman who was born at Sidcup, Kent. He was educated at Christ’s Hospital in Horsham. He later
went to Australia where he studied art with Will Ashton 1928-1949. His work is widely represented in many Australian collections,
including the Imperial War Museum in Canberra. When he returned to the UK, he studied with Robin Guthrie and Ralph Middleton Todd at City and Guilds Art School, 1950-1951, and exhibited at the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, The Fine Art Society, and St Ives Society
of Artists of which he was a member. Following the Second World War, he was commissioned to paint two portraits of Sir Winston
Churchill. He lived for many years at Copthorne, Sussex.
