ARTIST BIOGRAPHY

Mary Williams RWA SWA

March 20,1911.   to   31 October 2002

Primarily a watercolourist of evocative, mood-filled and sometimes romantic landscapes. Jack Beddington included her 1938 watercolour 'Boats on Beer Beach' in his book Young Artists of Promise. Mary Williams was a member of the Society of Women Artists and was elected to the RWA in 1965. She has been a frequent and regular exhibitor at the RWA since 1950 even having five watercolours in the Permanent Collection. Mary exhibited a further three of her fine watercolours in the 130th Annual Exhibition. As well as at the RWA, Mary Williams also regularly exhibited at the Royal Scottish Academy in Edinburgh and the Royal Society of Marine Artists.
Mary was given a solo exhibition at the R.A.M. Museum in Exeter in the summer of 1974.After almost forty years as an active exhibitor and participant in the life of the RWA, Mary Williams passed away in October of 2002.
