His paintings do not appear on the market often as most are in private hands or galleries. This painting is offered for sale and belongs to a private collector and therefore new to the market.

John Scott (1802-1885)

Scott was born in Morpeth but was brought up in Sunderland and South Shields. Took lessons from John Wilson Carmichael and painted marine subjects. His work is held in many private collections and at the Shipley Art Gallery, South Shields Museum and Art Gallery, National Maritime Museum and Laing Art Gallery, Newcastle.
