One of the best known water colour artists of the 20 Century this is a wonderful rural snow scene with a man walking his dog. Typical of his style and subject and much sought after.

ARTIST BIOGRAPHY

Rowland Hilder (1905 - 1993)

Landscape and Marine painter in watercolour. Also printmaker and illustrator. Born in Long Island, America to British parents. On his return to England studied at Goldsmiths's College School of Art under Edmund Sullivan for three years and then became a lecturer at the College between the wars. Hilder achieved great popular success with his portrayal of the English countryside, notably Kent with the characteristically delineated trees and oast-houses. He showed at the RA, RI of which he was president 1964 - 74, RHA and NEAC.
